About Me

I am a senior at Purdue University pursuing my bachelor of science on Aviation Management and Airline Operations, with a minor in Unmanned Aerial Systems. From a young age, I have always had a fascination for aviation. In high school I began my aviation journey by obtaining my private pilots license, one of my biggest accomplishments. I came to Purdue in the Fall of 2019 to continue to grow in the aviation field.

My classes thus far at Purdue University have begun to prepare me for my future in the aviation industry. I have learned a great deal of how an airline is run and priceless management and leadership skills. I have worked on projects ranging from building a process map of a specific area within an airline, to actually running a full-scale simulation airline. A current project I am working on in my Econ in Aviation class is doing a statistical analysis on supply and demand based on real-world data from a major airline.

In regards to my minor in Unmanned Air Systems, I have learned all about drones and their uses. We are using what we have learned to collect data and do analysis on that data. For example, I have taken UAS data from a mining company's dredge site to do volumetric analysis on the terrain to calculate the volume of materials that had been collected from the dredge site. UAS and drones are becoming more and more common in the world today and I know that what I am learning from these classes will be useful in the future.

Currently, I am the Crew Chief for a Purdue Grand Prix race team. I am responsible for preparing my team to be on track to compete in the annual race at Purdue. As the team leader I am the main source of communication between the race directors and safety officials. This experience has improved my leadership and communication skills greatly and will prepare me to work well in a team in my future career.

I am seeking jobs or internships on the commercial side of major airlines or aviation companies. I would love to speak to you or answer any questions you may have about my experience. Feel free to reach me at my email, lmoorlac@purdue.edu. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
